September 30th has been declared Orange Shirt Day annually, in recognition of the harm the residential school system did to children's sense of self-esteem and well being, and as an affirmation of our commitment to ensure that everyone around us matters.

A portion from every shirt sold will be donated to the Bawaajigewin Aboriginal Community Circle.

The Bawaajigewin Aboriginal Community Circle (BACC) is an Aboriginal-led incorporated non-profit agency in the Durham Region. Bawaajigewin is an Ojibway word that means the action of taking something that is a dream and making it into something you can see in real life.
Shirt Design by Caden Lane:
Caden Lane is an Indigenous man who grew up in the Durham Region and is a proud Mikisew Cree First Nation member. Throughout his journey on Mother Earth, Caden has developed a passion for expressing himself in the arts. Caden’s outstanding talent allows him to connect with others by demonstrating his authentic self in the pieces he creates. Caden leads with respect for the diversity of Indigenous peoples within the Durham Region and provides this piece to honour the survivors of residential schools from these lands and all of Turtle Island.
Caden is travelling across Turtle Island to connect with his authentic teachings from Mikisew First Nation, feel the land of his ancestors under his feet and pursue his post-secondary endeavours.
The image is an expression of one’s historic self, from liberation to recognition of one’s past and the cultural teachings that brought them closer and fuelled them to understand themselves more, to the paths and flame that is our spiritual growth into our own actualization.
